Gemini App Launched for iPhone Users

Tech Giant Google has launched a standalone Gemini app for iPhone users globally. The app is available for free download from the App Store Previously, iPhone users had to access Gemini AI through the main Google app. or on the web at gemini.google.com. This standalone app gives you access to Google's AI assistant, which can help with things like writing emails, creating images, and learning about new topics. The app is free to download and use.

The app's key feature is Gemini Live, a conversational AI that lets users interact with the chatbot using their voice. This feature is not available in the main Google app on iOS, making the standalone app the only way for iPhone users to experience Gemini Live. Gemini Live allows for natural, free-flowing conversations, including the ability to interrupt the AI and change prompts on the fly. Users can also personalize Gemini Live by choosing from various voices and languages.

In addition to Gemini Live, the app offers a range of features, including:

  1. Brainstorming ideas
  2. Simplifying complex topics
  3. Rehearsing for important moments
  4. Studying with interactive visuals and real-world examples
  5. Planning trips
  6. Creating AI-generated images
  7. Getting summaries, deep dives, and source links
  8. Taking a real-world photo and asking for details about it

The Gemini app also integrates with other Google apps, including Search, YouTube, Google Maps, Gmail, and Calendar. This allows users to perform tasks like requesting directions in Google Maps or managing their Google Calendar directly from the Gemini chat. This integration gives Gemini an advantage over other chatbots, including ChatGPT, which currently lacks this capability.

The launch of the standalone Gemini app comes as Apple is rolling out its own AI assistant, Apple Intelligence, with iOS 18.2. Apple Intelligence integrates ChatGPT and other AI models into Siri, aiming to make it a more powerful and versatile voice assistant.

The Google Gemini app is available for free download from the App Store. For users who want access to Google's latest Gemini models, a Gemini Advanced subscription is available for $19.99 per month, with a free one-month trial.
