As per latest reports, Samsung’s Galaxy S26 launch plans have shifted, with the highly anticipated Galaxy Unpacked event now likely scheduled for mid-February 2026 in San Francisco. This represents a delay from earlier expectations of a mid-January reveal for the new Galaxy S26 family, which includes the flagship Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The Galaxy S26 Lineup

The roadmap for the Galaxy S26 Ultra and its siblings has seen significant revision. Initial plans for a Galaxy S26 Edge were reportedly reconsidered following the poor sales of the Galaxy S25 Edge. This has brought the Galaxy S26+ back into the core lineup.

Furthermore, the proposed Galaxy S26 Pro, intended to replace the base S25 model with camera and performance upgrades, faced pricing strategy challenges. Samsung is likely weighing the impact of Apple's successful pricing with the iPhone 17. Despite these shifts, a mid-February Galaxy Unpacked event would still allow Samsung to launch the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy S26+, and other models ahead of Mobile World Congress starting March 2.

Galaxy S26 Ultra Specifications & Chipset

With the Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ launch timelines in flux, detailed specifications have been slower to emerge. The central question remains which chipset will power the Galaxy S26 family.

Recent FCC filings for the Galaxy S26 Ultra indicate both network-locked and global models will ship with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. This strongly suggests the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 will be the global platform for the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Industry watchers speculate Qualcomm may provide Samsung with a slightly uprated version of the Gen 5 chipset for enhanced performance.

Despite the changing Galaxy Unpacked date, consumer demand for the "new Samsung" remains steadfast. The Galaxy S26 Ultra is undoubtedly on its way, poised to showcase advancements in Galaxy AI and flagship hardware, cementing the Galaxy name as a top choice for smartphone buyers.
