It's official: Tech Giant Google is making the biggest move in its desktop strategy in over a decade. For years, we've watched as the company tried to make ChromeOS and Android play nice, but now, a unified successor is not just rumored - it's confirmed.

What is Aluminium OS?

Aluminium OS  is Google's new, unified, Android-based operating system designed to eventually replace ChromeOS. Leaked job listings confirm the platform is "built with Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the core," positioning it as a future desktop experience with deep Gemini model integration, set to debut on commercial devices starting around 2026.

Aluminium OS (ALOS) is Google's internal codename for a new, unified operating system designed to eventually replace or co-exist with Chrome OS. According to a recent Google job listing, the platform is fundamentally "built with artificial intelligence AI at its core," integrating advanced machine learning capabilities from the ground up to create a more efficient, powerful, and intelligent desktop experience.
